This week 14th Brigade Engineer Battalion farewelled our Headquarters and Headquarters Company First Sergeant, 1SG Pierre Crescimbeni. 1SG Crescimbeni leaves us to attend the U.S. Army Sergeant Major Academy, a well-deserved honor. UPDATE 9:34 a.m.: Amtrak asks that people with questions about friends and family on the train call 800-523-9101. The family reunification center is at DuPont City Hall (1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, 98327). Please do not come to the scene.
UPDATE 8:57 a.m.: WSDOT is working on turning people around who are stuck in the backup at Center Drive. They will do it as quickly as they safely can.
UPDATE 8:48 a.m.: The left lane of northbound I-5 is also closed. Southbound traffic is backed up to JBLM.
All southbound lanes of I-5 are blocked near Mounts Road in Pierce County due to derailed train car. Avoid area! There is no estimate for when lanes will reopen. Expect significant congestion on all surrounding roads. See the WSDOT Facebook page for future updates.
