“Wolfpack” Sustainers Support Allied Spirit VIII (ASVIII)
Hohenfels, Germany – Soldiers from the 317TH Support Maintenance Company (SMC) “Wolfpack,” provided echelons above brigade (EAB) maintenance support for Allied Spirit VIII exercise from 15 JAN –05 FEB 18, at Hohenfels Training Area (HTA).
The 2nd Cavalry Regiment (2CR) and our NATO partners conducted gunnery table in support of unified land operations (ULO) and facilitate a multinational brigade level exercise. These units also conducted joint operations in support of NATO deterrence initiatives within the European theater.
“As a junior officer, I feel that the experiences and the lessons I learned during this training exercise will make me a better logistician,” said 1LT Jade Schmitt, Executive Officer, 317th SMC. “I truly enjoyed working with our multi-national partners during the various training events.”
The exercise enabled Soldiers from the 317th SMC to learn the different processes in which our NATO allies provide field maintenance and sustainment operations in a simulated combat environment. In turn, the 317th SMC Soldiers provided maintenance support on Palletized Load Systems (PLS), Contact Maintenance Trucks, and several High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV), in order to assist the 2CR and our NATO allies during gunnery table exercises.
“Learning how our allied partners manage maintenance operations and coordinate field maintenance during a large training exercise is a truly beneficial experience for any young leader in the Army,” said SPC Nathanial Brickleff, Team Leader, 317th SMC. (Story by 2LT Ryan K. Lindeman, 317th SMC)
