Jumping through the week

A U.S. Marine with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, descends during free-fall and static-line parachute operations at Camp Pendleton. The battalion conducted the operations with Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 352 to maintain and increase parachuting and jumpmaster proficiency.

5th Marine Regiment celebrated the arrival of a new Vietnam War Memorial to the Camp San Mateo Memorial Garden on Camp Pendleton, March 29.

The memorial holds the names of the 2,706 Marines and Sailors who fought and lost their lives serving under the 5th Marine Regiment during the Vietnam War.

Created in Barre, Vermont, the memorial was transported across the United States and escorted by various chapters of The Patriot Guard Riders.

An unveiling ceremony of the memorial will take place on Memorial Day, May 28.
