This week, we began 24-hour operations as part of Sudden Response 18, one of the largest Department of Defense confirmation exercises to test the capabilities of federal response forces. SR 18 exercises the ability of the Defense CBRN Response Force (DCRF) to deploy, employ, and sustain specialized military response forces upon the request of civilian authorities to save lives and mitigate human suffering in the case of a catastrophic chemical, biological or nuclear incident.
