Service Spotlight: Dual Service

What do you want to be when you grow up?You DON'T have to choose between a soldier and a firefighter. U.S. Army Master Sgt. Tom Farrington is both. We do it for our children

Our Army kids are amazing, don't you agree? The U.S. Army celebrates the Month of the Military Child, and these incredible members of our Army Family. Our Army kids face and overcome unique challenges everyday, and they provide our Soldiers with the inspiration to get the job done, accomplish the mission and come back home. Were you an Army kid or do you have one now?

Recently, Second Lt. Gabrielle Magnanti from the Florida National Guard Counterdrug Civil Operations team, in partnership with the Monroe County Coalition and Keys to Be the Change, Inc., spoke to students from Coral Shores High School about Gateway drugs, addiction and the hazards associated with each. The Monroe County Coalition hopes the discussion will improve the school’s knowledge and perception of substance use, while also improving resiliency, refusal and coping skills within the student population. The Civil Operations Program views the anti-drug briefing as an opportunity to expand the coalition’s community outreach and assist them in the development of new prevention efforts.

Our #Guard #Family is so grateful for support from our civilian employers! At the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award Breakfast in Jacksonville this morning, our #Guardsmen opened the event by presenting the colors. A few of our #Soldiers nominated their employers for the Patriot Award, which recognizes employers who ensure their Guard and #Reserve component employees are supported during their calls to service.
