Recently, Second Lt. Gabrielle Magnanti from the Florida National Guard Counterdrug Civil Operations team, in partnership with the Monroe County Coalition and Keys to Be the Change, Inc., spoke to students from Coral Shores High School about Gateway drugs, addiction and the hazards associated with each. The Monroe County Coalition hopes the discussion will improve the school’s knowledge and perception of substance use, while also improving resiliency, refusal and coping skills within the student population. The Civil Operations Program views the anti-drug briefing as an opportunity to expand the coalition’s community outreach and assist them in the development of new prevention efforts.
