WSDOT ALERT: If the weather cooperates, drivers on southbound Interstate 5 near Mounts Road may encounter overnight lane and ramp closures this week while contractor crews perform pavement repairs.

From Monday, April 23 through Friday, April 27, crews will close a single lane on southbound I-5 starting at 9 p.m. At 11 p.m., the Mounts Road on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close, and a second lane of southbound I-5 will close. The ramp will reopen at 5 a.m. each following day, with all lanes opening by 6 a.m.

WSDOT ALERT, MONDAY APR. 23

* The northbound SR 7 on-ramp, southbound I-705 on-ramp, and the Pacific Avenue on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close from 9:30 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.

* Southbound SR 167 on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Tuesday.

* Pacific Avenue at South 32nd Street will be controlled by flaggers from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday for sign installation.

* Single and double lane closures are scheduled on northbound and southbound I-5 between Port of Tacoma Road and S. 56th Street.

* Lane closures are also scheduled during overnight hours for eastbound State Route 16 between S. Union Avenue and S. Sprague Avenue.

TRAINING ALERT: Joint Base Lewis-McChord day, evening and late-night demolitions firing notice!

One #JBLM unit, is conducting training with demolitions beginning at 12:01 a.m., Tuesday through midnight Thursday. Members of the local community can expect to hear demolitions training during the daytime and nighttime hours.

ROAD CLOSURE: Kaufman Ave., between Pershing Circle and Pendleton, will be closed from Tuesday, April 24 to Friday, May 11 while crews make necessary repairs to the JBLM Garrison Headquarters (Bldg. 1010) parking lot. Employees who work in Bldg. 1010 may access the parking lot behind Bldg. T1011 via Liggett to 9th Division.

WSDOT ALERT: Contractor crews building HOV lanes on Interstate 5 and State Route 16 in Tacoma have a handful of overnight ramp, lane and street closures planned. The closures allow crews to inspect and repair the roadway, and advance work on SR 16 HOV lanes.
* South Tacoma Way at South Sprague Avenue and South Wilkeson Street will close from 11 p.m. tonight to 7 a.m. Saturday, April 21. Drivers who use South Tacoma Way will be detoured to Center Street via South Wilkeson and South Pine streets. Local access will be maintained on South Tacoma Way between South Pine Street and South Sprague Avenue.

Single and double lane closures are scheduled on northbound and southbound I-5 between Port of Tacoma Road to South 56th Street and on eastbound SR 16 between South Union Avenue and South Sprague Avenue.

* Southbound I-5 exit to South 38th Street will close from 11 p.m. tonight to 5 a.m. Friday.
* All lanes of northbound I-5 will detour through the Portland Avenue interchange and across the new Puyallup River Bridge from 11:59 p.m. tonight to 3 a.m. Friday. Law enforcement will be at the Portland Avenue intersection to assist with traffic control.

Single and double lane closures are scheduled on northbound and southbound I-5 between Port of Tacoma Road to South 56th Street and on eastbound SR 16 between South Union Avenue and South Sprague Avenue.
