Day of Remembrance — The Army community joins the nation to remember the Holocaust – the millions of men, women and children persecuted by the Nazi regime in the 1930s and 40s – on Tuesday, April 24th, from 10-11 a.m., at the Main Post Chapel, Schofield Barracks. We also remember the heroes whose actions saved incalculable lives. The theme for this year is "Learning from the Holocaust: Legacy of Perseverance."

Tripler Army Medical Center — Staff and patients are informed that the waste water pipe replacement work outside of Tripler's gate is continuing. Unfortunately, this work is expected to continue into the summer.

Permits are being secured right now for the construction. Patients and staff can expect traffic and delays with only a single lane of traffic in each direction available until construction is completed. Updates will be provided when they are received.

Forty Seven Soldiers from the 8th Human Resources Sustainment Center, 8th Theater Sustainment Command, has redeployed on April 13 after supporting missions in Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan for the last 9 months.

Welcomed by more than a hundred family members, friends and fellow Soldiers at a ceremony on Fort Shafter, the 8th HRSC is comprised of Soldiers who focus on human resource missions such as personnel accountability, strength management, casualty reporting, and Army postal operations throughout the theater.

This Friday, April 20, the Armed Services YMCA at 1262 Santos Dumont Ave., Bldg 122, Wheeler Army Airfield, is celebrating the Month of the Military Child with a potluck from 11 a.m - 2 p.m. Be sure to wear your Purple Up for Military Kids shirt! This event will be a picnic style potluck, so bring your own chair or blanket to sit. Please RSVP with what you are bringing at wheeler@asymcahi.org.

U.S. Army helicopter crews from the 25th Infantry Division evacuated more than 180 Kauai residents and visitors from areas threatened by flood waters while delivering approximately 43,000 pounds of food, water, and clothing to distressed areas across the island April 16-17.

The Army's specialized Wildland Fire Division is scheduled to begin the prescribed burn of the Schofield Barracks training range complex, beginning next week, April 23. Fire officials plan to complete the burn in approximately three to seven days. This annual event is to prevent brushfires and their potential threat to more than 30 species of endangered plants and animals.

Newcomers — We welcome aboard newcomers to U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii. They have received certificates of completion for participating in the Team Member Orientation, March 22-27, at Wheeler Army Airfield from USAG-HI Commander Col. Stephen E. Dawson.
