GATE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR SATURDAY MORNING, APRIL 21: Gate 1 will close for maintenance between 8 a.m. and noon tomorrow - all traffic will be rerouted in and out of Gate 17 during that time. Please take note and have a great weekend!
MWR Director Dean Weidman, left, and Pete Browne, admin officer, get ready to load up into the MWR van they carpooled over to building 690 in for an All Hands & ASF graduation and awards ceremony this morning (photos in next week's Navalog) MWR is doing their part to conserve fuel today and every day - not just for Earth Day. The Center for Service Support got a jump on the installation-wide Earth Week Clean Up scheduled for next week by doing their area today. Earth Day is Sunday - see the Navalog for opportunities throughout R.I. where you can join in a clean-up event.
Slow down please!
We're getting increased reports of drivers exceeding posted speed limits all around the base. Rule of thumb is 25 mph within NS Newport unless posted otherwise. Over on Coddington Point (Training Country where the Galley, OTCN, NAPS, MARDET are) it's 15 mph unless you are going near formations, in which case, it's only 10mph. Please drive carefully - cyclist and runners will be out in numbers once this silly New England weather warms up!
