GATE CLOSURE NOTICE: NBK- Bremerton, Montgomery gate will be closed from Today, from 3 p.m., through 5 p.m., 26 April. Normal operations will resume 27 April. Vehicles should use Charleston or Naval gates for installation access and exit.

Stennis is underway with Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 9 conducting routine training as well as tailored ships training availability and final evaluation problem.

Cmdr. Steven Faulk, from Kennewick, Washington, delivers remarks during the change of command ceremony for the Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine USS Jacksonville (SSN 699). During the ceremony, held at the Olympic Lodge, Faulk turned over command to Cmdr. David Vehon from Apache Junction, Arizona. Jacksonville is currently stationed at Naval Base Kitsap-Bremerton for inactivation and decommissioning.

Aviation Boatswain' Mate (Fuel) 1st Class Derrick A. Burns, middle, from Topeka, Kan., receives the 2017 Pacific Thunder Leadership Award from Capt. Kevin P. Lenox, commanding officer of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68), and Rex Buffington, Executive Director of the Stennis Center for Public Service (SCPS), at the McCormick Woods Clubhouse in Port Orchard, April 13, 2018. The SCPS recognizes three Sailors every year from Nimitz for outstanding leadership. Nimitz is conducting a docking planned incremental availability at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility where the ship is receiving scheduled maintenance and upgrades.

Demolition operations are scheduled to take place at the Bangor Explosive Ordnance Disposal range.

The Navy routinely conducts training exercises to ensure readiness.

Sailors assigned to Naval Base Kitsap (NBK) and its tenant commands took part in an Earth Day clean up event aboard NBK-Bangor and NBK-Bremerton, April 20.

Capt. Alan Schrader, commanding officer, Naval Base Kitsap, speaks with Jeff Rodin, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on-scene coordinator, during a ceremony celebrating the restoration of Gorst Creek. The U.S. Navy, EPA, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and other various state and local agencies worked together during a multi-year partnership to support ecologically sound conservation and sustainable land uses that are also compatible with the Navy’s mission.

Gary Mayes, commander, Navy Region Northwest (NRNW), presented the Retention Excellence Award (REA) plaque and pennant to Navy Region Northwest Career Counselor and Retention Advisor, Senior Chief Navy Counselor Jean-Hero Lamy on behalf of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC), in the Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor Theater April 18.

GATE CLOSURE NOTICE: NBK- Bremerton, Missouri gate will be closed Today, 17 April from 5:00 p.m. to midnight, to perform periodic maintenance. All large vehicle traffic will be required to coordinate with the Watch Commander (360) 914-7882 / 476-7601 / 476-8161 for entry and exit of the base.

SERCO Crew will be performing required maintenance on the Montgomery gate systems.
