Congratulations to the newly-promoted Col. James Gonyo! He's the Director of Logistics for the NYARNG, and an Iraq War Veteran.

He first enlisted in 1991 and went on to receive an officer's commission in 1995. Since then he has served in a variety of leadership, command and staff assignments.

Infantryman (11B): defends our country against any and all threats.

Combat Engineer (12B): constructs fighting positions and clear the path of obstacles.

Fire Support Specialist (13F): coordinates artillery firing.

Multichannel Transmission Systems Operator (25Q): operates state of the art communications equipment.

Motor Transport Operator (88M): transports personnel and cargo to keep the mission going.

Construction Equipment Operator (12N): uses bulldozers and cranes to complete Army construction projects.

Indirect Fire Infantryman (11C): Fires the mortar.

Petroleum Supply Specialist (92F): keeps our vehicles and airplanes fueled.

Blackhawk Helicopter Repairer (15T): Makes sure the UH-60's are ready to go at anytime.

The NY Honor Guard performs over 700 military funerals a month. Their training consists of physically demanding, 18 hour days that start early in the morning.

Service members receive funeral honors with at least two Honor Guard members, the playing of Taps, and the presentation of a flag during services.

The CH-47 Chinook crews attached to B Co, 3-126 Aviation stand together following their Welcome Home Ceremony. This was the first time they were back together since returning from deployment in November.
