Gen. Joe Dunford paid a visit to our teammates at the Defense Intelligence Agency yesterday. While there, he met with the agency’s director, Lt. Gen. Robert P. Ashley, and spoke to the workforce to thank them for their public service to the nation and for their significant contributions to the Joint Staff, the National Defense Strategy and the National Military Strategy. In particular, he noted the critical role they play in providing an accurate sight picture of the operating environment to enable informed decision making by U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) leadership.

“We cannot be successful with any mission-essential task without quality intelligence analysis...the foundation for us to provide the best military advice and recommendations to the secretary and the President.”

The Silent Service

Job well done by U.S. Navy sailors aboard the Virginia-class attack submarine USS John Warner (SSN-785) who launched six Tomahawk land attack missiles from the Eastern Mediterranean on April 14. Attack submarines are designed to seek and destroy enemy submarines and surface ships; project power ashore with Tomahawk cruise missiles and Special Operation Forces; carry out Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance missions; support battle group operations, and engage in mine warfare.
