The 83rd ERQS Story: Joint Personnel Recovery

They're here to save lives. Airmen flying missions every day or coalition forces going outside the wire on patrols, can fight a little harder and sleep a little better knowing there is a group of highly trained and motivated Pararescuemen willing to put their lives on the line to save them. For the first time in Afghanistan, these PJs of the 83rd Expeditionary Rescue Squadron do this working hand-in-hand with the U.S. Army CH-47 Chinooks. #VulturesLeadtheWay #DeliverAirpower #ForAFG #TilltheEndUnited States Air Force | U.S. Air Forces Central Command | Resolute Support Mission | US Forces Afghanistan | Gen. USAFCENT commander, Lt. Gen. Jeff Harrigian, flies a B-52 Stratofortress during one of the "BUFF's" final combat missions over Iraq and Syria, March 30. The B-52 played a key role crushing ISIS and Taliban targets with nearly 12,000 weapons released in 1,800+ sorties since it arrived in the U.S. Central Command AOR in 2016. The B-52 will be replaced by the B-1B Lancer as part of a scheduled bomber swap, with the first Lancers arriving at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, March 31.
