U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Eagle 6: Transition between two #USArmy Forces Command (FORSCOM) and XVIII Airborne Corps divisions in #Afghanistan is now complete. The #ScreamingEagles of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) are officially responsible for integrating NATO's Resolute Support Mission and US Forces Afghanistan operations nationwide. My sincere thanks to the entire 3rd Infantry Division, who ironically solidified their 101st-year reputation as the 'Rock of the Marne,’ for their service, sacrifice and resolve during an incredibly dynamic period of change. We are committed to building upon their successes. As I told U.S. #Army Gen. Nicholson, and U.S. Embassy Kabul Amb. Bass, #Afghan Gen. Yaftali and others gathered at #BagramAirfield today, we are ready for our new 'Rendezvous with Destiny.' I am supremely confident in the #ScreamingEagles' ability to synchronize complex, combined-arms activities down to the most infinite detail on a three-dimensional battlefield. The Soldiers of this division are as bright and innovative as they are lethal. They have built the 75-year 'Legacy of Heroism' we enjoy today. We are honored to apply it once again and to continue our work, begun ten years ago on the 101st day of 2008, with the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces, who continue to seize the initiative and drive our common enemies to reconciliation, or capitulation. #AirAssault! NATO in Afghanistan I #ArmyReadiness, #ReadyNow!🇺🇸️
