Soldiers with our 38th CAB set up the first part of a tent system during their annual training at Camp Atterbury.

The division's combat aviation brigade mobilizes, deploys and conducts full-spectrum aviation operations in support of 38th ID in order to provide the state of Indiana the forces, equipment and aviation capabilities necessary to respond to state emergencies and other directed missions throughout Indiana.

In war time, the brigade mobilizes, deploys and conducts full-spectrum aviation operations in order to provide freedom of maneuver to U.S. and coalition forces in the deployed theater.

Gary Blagburn assumed command of the 38th Infantry Division’s headquarters battalion during the unit's change of command ceremony, Sunday, July 15, 2018. “The National Guard offers unlimited opportunities, and you can not pass up an opportunity that the Guard gives you,” said Blagburn during his ceremony speech. Col. Todd A. Townsend, 38th Infantry Division chief of staff, received his new rank during a promotion ceremony Friday.

“It’s not about me, it’s about the organization and what it takes to keep this machine running,” said Townsend. “I am here to solve the hardest problems the division needs to be resolved.”
