Secretary of the Army Mark T. Esper visited the Rock Island Arsenal today where he learned about how the U.S. Army Materiel Command is #modernizing its capabilities at the Rock Island Arsenal Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center.

He also stopped by the ASC headquarters where he heard about how we #sustainthewarfighter #worldwide alongside our partners at the Joint Munitions Command.

Army celebrates Fourth of July

Each Independence Day is a reminder of how the Army meets the nation's defense needs. America's sons and daughters will continue to carry the same patriotism and ideals of the Founders with them as they serve in harm's way in places like Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria. Soldiers are ready to defend the vital national interests at home and abroad.

The Rock Island Arsenal’s role in military readiness is highlighted during a visit from as high ranking military leader. Greg Wilson with the Army Sustainment Command Public Affairs Office has more.

Today a new chapter begins for Capt. Lonnie Collier. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal June 22 as an end of tour award in the headquarters foyer by Col. Steven Allen, ASC chief of staff. Jody Fasko, director, Contract Management Office, Acquisition Integration and Management Center, ASC, was awarded the Dept. of the Army Superior Civilian Service Award, June 15, in the headquarters' foyer by Maj. Gen. Duane Gamble, ASC commanding general, for service from September 2016 through June 2018. Her husband, Steve, was given a Certificate of Appreciation for his support. Fasko will now become deputy to the commander, 405th Army Field Support Brigade in Germany.
