Before tomorrow's 412th Test Wing Change of Command ceremony, Brig. Gen. Schaefer is sharing some words with members of Team Edwards.

"412th Family,

It's been the honor of our lives for Pauline and me to serve this amazing team! This was hands-down the best assignment in our 28-year career because of YOU...the most talented workforce in the Air Force! Edwards AFB is a very special place...a historical aerospace wonder and the future of Airpower for our nation. You are all part of this amazing mission...providing war-winning combat capabilities--YOU keep America safe! Thank you for your AWESOME service and your support for me and my family. As we change command tomorrow, you are in great hands with Brig Gen "Dragon" and Melonie Teichert.

Keep crushing the MISSION and may God continue to Bless the 412th Test Wing!

V/R
Schaef"

#OTD 9 Jul 1993 at #EdwardsAirForceBase - The first personnel parachute airdrops were made from a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III. We dug deep into the archives to find this old footage that captured this historic event from on-board and outside the aircraft. The video includes the first person to jump, MSgt D. Gordon as well as his comments, followed by other jumps. Note the only audio is at 17-seconds where MSgt Gordon describes his jump. #C17 #parachute #military #aviation #avgeek #history
