Family and Friends of Class 55-18,

Welcome to the Official 1-31 Alpha Battery Facebook page. My name is Jeanne, wife of Alpha Battery Commander, CPT Gregory Minor. I am the FRL (Family Readiness Leader) for Alpha Battery and will be posting pertinent information in the upcoming weeks on this page. Please feel free to like, follow, and share our page to receive up to date information regarding your Trainee. Information regarding Family Day, Graduation, and the process to request a visitor’s pass will be posted as the time draws closer. I will not leave you astray and will walk you through every step of the way.

As a spouse, mother, and Veteran, I understand what you all are going through. For some, this may be the first time you are away from your sons, daughters, husbands or wives. Rest assure your loved ones are in the best hands and being trained by the most exceptional drill sergeants the Army has to offer. Your loved ones will undergo rigorous training in the next TEN weeks and will transform from civilians into discipline Soldiers.

This is a life-changing experience, and I ask that you continue to be there for your Trainees through love and support. I know this transition may not be easy for some of you as this is your first exposure to the Military and it may seem foreign. Although you all are strangers to one another, you are connected by class 55-18. I urge you to lean on one another for support in the coming weeks. As your sons, daughters, husbands and wives transition from civilian to Soldier, support one another through this process because you are now family.

Letters are highly encouraged. You are welcomed to write as many letters as you wish. However, do not worry if you do not hear from them via phone as their training is quite demanding. Phone call use is limited and must be earned. Also, the mailing system is much slower than what you are used to; it is quite common for you to receive many letters from your Trainee before your Trainee receives your letters. I assure you, their letters are not being withheld as the law prohibits this. Please be patient; I promise they will receive them. We will also post pictures on the page a few times a week for the duration of their training; keep in mind the pictures are all RANDOM, and you may not see your soldiers right away. Hundreds of photos will be taken during their training. However, the images that are posted are only a small percentage. The remainder of the photographs will be compiled on a CD by our FRG spouses and will be offered on Family Day and Graduation.

A Welcome Letter from the Commander should be arriving to you via mail shortly, please read the letter carefully and adhere to all instructions listed. Dates and Times of all events will also be listed in the letter.

I want to remind you all to remain professional and courteous with one another through your interactions on this page. This is a professional page, and we DO NOT tolerate unprofessional behavior or disparaging remarks.

If there are any questions, feel free to contact us via message.

As always, I am here for you and your Trainees

Family and Friends,
Look for this banner and visit our FRG table. We will have refreshments and snacks available prior to each event. Our FRG team has worked very hard to compile over 600 pictures and videos of your future solider during their Basic Combat Training journey. We will provide one CD for each Future Soldier's family for donations only. Please stop by and say Hello to our FRG spouses who support the talented Drill Sergeants who have been training your loved ones over the last 10 weeks. The spouses play a pivotal role in the Assassin Battery. They volunteer countless hours to ensure Soldiers are cared for and work behind the scenes to put together events during Family Day and Graduation. Come and support our FRG!

Class 37-18,
Trainees accomplished their last confidence course of BCT and another graduation requirement. The purpose of the CoC confidence course is to promote self-assurance and work as a team. The obstacles are no easy feat and tests Trainees on their strength and stamina. Your future Soldiers were proud to complete this portion of BCT. In 7 days, you will be reunited with your loved ones! Trainees completed FTX 3 (Field Training) this weekend. The second day of FTX 3, trainees were tested on their urban warfare skills in the Little Chicago Scenario. They infiltrated and cleared enemy areas, assess enemy prisoner of war and any casualties they sustain during the attack. Following the scenario, Trainees completed a 16K ruck march to their next location. The last day of their field training ended with infantry squad lanes which test trainees on how they tactically maneuver in squad formations. As trainees moved along the battle field, they must establish support by fire which allows them to bound to the trench and engage the enemy. Fires Center of Excellence and Fort Sill
