Warriors of the North,
CE professionals are working diligently to restore power to those affected in base housing and the base campground. Estimated time for resolution is unknown at this time.
Congratulations to the 20 Airmen who completed a two-day, 16-hour Alpha Warrior Level 1 Battle Rig certification course! This training tested their physical and mental fitness, and cost some sweat and blood, but now they can continue on to train their Wingmen!

Quick reminder: During our current main gate closure, all DoD ID Cardholders can use the Eielson School entrance from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the week. It’s located north of the main gate. The commercial gate on Highway 2 is open 24/7 until the main gate reopens. To avoid excess traffic and long delays, it may be best to use the school entrance during peak hours! #WotN #FightinFromTheForks
Reminder: The front gate closes tomorrow! Please be mindful of the changes outlined in the attached article in preparation for your commute.
Mosquito season is here, but Airmen from pest management and public health are working together to keep the base population safe.
As you may have heard, Grand Forks county recently had a mosquito test positive for West Nile Virus. While this may be scary to some, there is no cause for alarm according to public health.
It is important to note, a mosquito tested positive, not a human. The actual statistics of West Nile Virus in humans is quite low. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, most people who contract West Nile do not have any symptoms, 1 in 5 people develop some symptoms, and 1 in 150 develop serious illness.
The main gate will close June 18 - July 20, 2018, to complete construction of the guard shack and improved the security barrier.
Full details of entry/exit routes can be found in the attached article.
Thank you for your patience during this time.
Here in Grand Forks we do a lot of preparation for the winter weather, but what about the weather emergencies that can happen during the warmer months? It's always important to have a plan. WotN, aerial spray operations are underway again this morning.
Great news! Mosquito aerial operations will begin this morning and carry on throughout the day (weather pending).
As a reminder, the C-130 Hercules will be making low passes around the installation, at an altitude of 100-150 feet. It is highly recommended that personnel, dependents and pets remain indoors during the aerial spray operations for at least 20 minutes, with windows closed after aerial spray operations are completed.
