USA TODAY has recognized the MCAS Cherry Point Air Show as one of the best air shows in America. We’re up against a couple of other aviation displays, but we need your VOTE to let the rest of the country know that Cherry Point is the BIGGEST, BADDEST, LOUDEST Air Show in the nation!

You can vote daily, but all votes have to be in by noon on Monday, July 23.

Each voting period will commence at noon Eastern Time and end at 11:59 a.m., Eastern Time. Limit one (1) vote per person, per day.

THE WBGT IS 90.1, HEAT INDEX IS 91.
Black Flag: All strenuous outdoor physical activity shall be halted for all units. (Per II MEF AND MCIEAST ORDER 6200.1)
Ensure to take precautionary measures to avoid overexposure to extreme heat conditions today.

*Manpower Management Officer Assignment command visit*
The FY19 MMOA command visit will be conducted at MCAS Cherry Point, MCAS New River and MCB Camp Lejeune from Aug. 14 -17. The visit will consist of officer briefs and allow for individual interview appointments with the MMOA monitors. The following schedule of events is provided:

MCAS CHERRY POINT will be on 15 Aug at 0800 in the Station theater. Interview will be at BOQ, Bldg.# 487
MCAS NEW RIVER will be on 14 Aug at 0800, in the Station Theater. Interview location will be at Bldg.# AS216
MCB CAMP LEJEUNE will be on 14 Aug at 0800 in the Base Theater. Interview location will be at the Officer's Club.

Personnel assigned to the Navy Boat Docks at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., replace two hurricane buoys on the air station, July 10, 2018. The buoys are used during severe weather to secure naval vessels in open water to prevent the boats from being damaged during a storm. From Havelock PD:
A power line is down across all four lanes on Hwy 70 adjacent Hollywood Blvd. Havelock PD is on scene and directing traffic, expect delays. We will be updated on the status as it becomes available.

*SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING*

The Regional METOC Center is setting a severe thunderstorm warning. The valid time is from 1433 to 1515 local. Severe Thunderstorms are defined as having gusts of winds greater than 50 knots, hail with a diameter greater than three quarters of an inch, and / or tornadoes. Destructive winds accompanying severe thunderstorms are within 10 Nautical Miles, or expected within 1 hour. Take immediate safety precautions and shelter.
