For the first time in nearly 30 years, a #USNavy aircraft carrier has entered the Arctic Circle – demonstrating our naval power and toughness.
Today, two attack submarines are moving closer towards increasing our capacity, which will add to our lethality. Both future USS Vermont (SSN 792) and future USS Delaware (SSN 791) are being christened.
Don't worry. We're ready. We've got the watch this weekend (and always)!
A seaman stands aft lookout watch aboard USS Carney (DDG 64) in the Mediterranean Sea on Wednesday. Forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, Carney is on its fifth patrol in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of regional allies and partners as well as U.S. national security interests in Europe and Africa.
Accompanied by select ships from Carrier Strike Group Eight, USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) has traveled north to demonstrate our #USNavy's flexibility and toughness through high-end warfare training with regional allies and partners.
▪️Service members injured in the crash are in stable condition for non-life threatening injuries. The most seriously injured were medically evacuated to a hospital in the Philippines, while remaining injured are under evaluation by USS Ronald Reagan's medical staff.
▪️Their families were notified in accordance with Navy policy.
▪️The cause of the mishap is under investigation.

USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) is underway to South America and Central America where it will conduct an 11-week medical assistance mission working closely with host-nation health and government partners in Ecuador, Peru, Colombia and Honduras.
The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Carney (DDG 64) fires its 5-inch gun during a live-fire exercise, Sept. 24. Carney, forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, is on its fifth patrol in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of regional allies and partners as well as U.S. national security interests in Europe and Africa.

"Team, I was saddened to learn of the passing of Paul Allen. His pioneering leadership in the effort to survey the ocean floor in search of sunken naval vessels resulted in the finding of important shipwrecks like USS Juneau (CL 52), USS Helena (CL 50), USS Lexington (CV 2) and most notably USS Indianapolis (CA 35). These discoveries and others like them have helped to connect today's Sailors with their past, and serve as reminders of what might be asked of us in the defense of our nation. We will miss him."
