On this Throwback Thursday, we're going back to Aug. 25 when future USS Little Rock was underway completing a high-speed run in Lake Michigan during acceptance trials. LCS-9 will be commissioned Saturday in Buffalo.

President Donald J. Trump signed the fiscal year 2018 National Defense Authorization Act into law during a White House ceremony yesterday.
The act calls for $626 billion for the department's base budget and another $66 billion for operations. The act includes a 2.4 percent pay raise for military personnel.

Operation Christmas Drop 2017 officially took off with the ceremonial "push" of the first pallet at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam yesterday.
Over the course of 12 days, military members from the United States Air Force, U.S. Coast Guard and #USNavy, with international support from the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and Royal Australian Air Force, will airdrop donated food, supplies, educational materials, and tools to 56 islanders throughout the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Palau.

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (Dec. 8, 2017) An MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter assigned to the "Black Jacks" of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 21 assists in fighting California fires. HSC-3 and HSC-21 are assisting California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection by providing aircrews flying specially-equipped MH-60S helicopters to conduct aerial water drops against wildfires in San Diego County. After a busy year supporting hurricane relief efforts in Tex., Fla., P.R., and the Virgin Islands, Navy Sea Hawk helicopters from HSC-3 and HSC-21 are helping to fight fires in Calif. HSC squadrons regularly train for this mission.
