Antietam Sailors participated in a weapon familiarization exercise, getting comfortable with handling and technique, prior to a live-fire target practice. Proper eye and ear protection were utilized throughout the exercise.

19 Antietam Sailors and 5 Filipino Sailors volunteered at the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Manila. Joining forces, Sailors from both navies assisted local volunteers in packing humanitarian aid and disaster relief food kits.

Another day another RAS! We refueled with USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) underway. This was a rare opportunity to practice refueling with an aircraft carrier, and we passed with flying colors.

Underway Replenishments are how we refuel and restock on supplies and food while at sea! Today, our Sailors coordinated coming alongside USNS Rappahannock, and shot lines over to the replenishment oiler, connecting the two ships together in this challenging, but rewarding evolution.

The conclusion of exercise Malabar 2018 gave insight into the way that the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and Indian Navy operates to improve interoperability between Antietam and our maritme partners. We look forward to participating again with our international allies.

Yesterday, our Sailors visited the Tamuning Senior Center as part of the Guam local community relations project. They exchanged culture through songs, games, food, and sea stories with the municipality elders. The center featured a diverse population originating from a variety of island and Asian nationalities.
