Message from Captain
CVN-70 Promotes Motorcycle Safety
"Thank you for training each other, thank you for your trust in me, and thank you for working as a strong team." -- Rear Adm. Doug Verissimo, in his final address to the crew today during a pierside change of command ceremony on the ship's flight deck. Capt. Matt Paradise assumed command. Fair winds and following seas, Admiral!
Congratulations to CVN-70's newest senior chiefs -- ABHCS Richard C. Aguirre, EMCS Ramon V. Chavez, ABECS Lawrence A. Haley, LSCS Luis F. Luna, LSCS Dieu Q. Ngo, MMCS Joshua S. Olson, and MMNC Christopher L. Rose! During two ceremonies held aboard the ship this week, families and friends pinned on their new anchors, which each now include a star. These deckplate leaders assume greater responsibility as a result of their promotion. BZ!
Today, USS Carl Vinson frocked 240 crew members (i.e., authorized them to wear their new rank and assume associated responsibilities) during a one-hour ceremony in the ship's hangar bay. The Sailors were selected for promotion during the latest advancement cycle. Captain told the group, "It gives me great pride to see Sailors be successful and advance to the next level." Congrats to everyone who moved up!
